چکیده
Glutamate and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) are the two main neurotransmitters in human brain. The balance between their excitatory inhibitory functions is crucial for maintaining brain’s physiological functions. Disturbance of glutamatergic or GABAergic neurotransmission leads to serious health problems including neurodegeneration, affective sleep disorders. Both GABA glutamate involved control sleep–wake cycle. disturbances function may cause sleep-related Obstructive apnea (OSA) most common respiratory disorder characterized by repetitive collapse upper airway resulting intermittent hypoxia fragmentation. complex pathophysiology OSA basis development numerous comorbid diseases. There emerging evidence that be pathogenesis OSA, as well its comorbidities. Additionally, GABA/glutamate targeted pharmacotherapy also influence course which important implementation wildly used drugs benzodiazepines, anesthetics, gabapentinoids. In this review, we summarize current knowledge on obstructive apnea.

Influence of smoking on sleep and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.
The various ill effects that tobacco smoking has on health have been largely studied, particularly on vascular, neoplastic, and respiratory diseases. Lately, the discussion about the negative impact of cigarette smoking moved towards sleep medicine. Tobacco consumption has been associated with sleep disordered architecture, both during regular intake and after withdrawal. Its effects on sleep d...
متن کاملObstructive sleep apnea and the severity of coronary artery disease
Background: It has been implicated that obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease including stroke, myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease (CAD) and hypertension. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between OSA and severity of atherosclerosis assessed by angiography. Methods: This study included 337 patients ...

Abstract Bckground: Patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are at risk of developing the fatty liver as a result of being overweight. Several studies suggest that OSA per se could be a risk factor for liver injury and ischemic hepatitis with OSA. The OSA is an independent risk factor for Insulin resistance. Therefore, we investigated liver enzymes and insulin resistance in patients with O...

Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients are at increased risk of sleep-disorders. The concomitant occurrence of COPD and obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is named overlap syndrome. This study aimed to evaluate the severity of OSAHS in overlap syndrome patients.Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on adult patients with forced...
